Trust is not universally a good thing. It is foolish to trust someone who has not proven to be trustworthy. Similarly, we need to be cautious about taking the risks of our vulnerability, our reputation, our time, and our money with people we don't know well. The course of wisdom dictates that we withhold trust until the character of the person is proven and warrants our confidenceā and to the degree that the person's character warrants our trust.

Where there is addiction, there is always at least one codependent. A codependent is loosely defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for persons who depend on him or her. The dependent may have emotional, physical, financial difficulties, or addictions they seemingly are unable to surmount.
