Allen started drinking when the opportunity presented itself at work. From that point on he began experimenting with drugs and continued to drink, often blacking out. "My life started to spiral, to take some drastic turns, in terms of how I felt about myself. But that didn't stop me from indulging or seeking the escape that it gave me. When I got high, all of my problems went away for that time."
